From Denmark with Love
May 25th 2026
Last weekend, Laurel & Sarah took a trip to Denmark to participate in Isager's International Retailers’ Meeting. Isager has been one of our best-selling and most beloved brands for nearly 20 years, and this family owned and run Danish company has been producing quality natural fiber yarns since 1977. The founder of Isager, Marianne, and her daughter and co-owner of the company Helga, are also behind a line of popular knitting books.
We loved gathering with other shop owners from across the globe in this incredible corner of the world. Over 60 shops were represented, from 16 different countries. We came home with our hearts SO full of inspiration that we just couldn't wait to share it with you here - so keep reading for a recap of our experience and some of our favorite patterns featuring Isager Yarns.
The Isager company resides in the former Elementary School in Tversted, a village in the north of Jutland close to the North Sea, surrounded by beautiful countryside. Here, the company’s retail shop, along with their wholesale and workshop centers are all situated. While staying in Tversted, we were invited to tour Isager's mini-mill Uldens Hus, sit in on lectures about the sustainability of Isager and their amazing yarns, and take knitting workshops with Danish designers.

One of our favorite things about Isager is how interchangeable many of their yarns are. A considerable amount of their bases are either lace or fingering weight, and are meant to be held double (or even triple) to create a wide variety of finished gauges and fabrics. While visiting the Isager shop in Tversted, we became utterly smitten with the Bluebell Top by Sonja Rømer Sørensen (featured above). This darling little summer tee was originally designed in Isager Soft Fine yarn, but we saw sample garments of Bluebell knit in a variety of Isager yarns, and they're all fabulous.
The second version of Bluebell that we saw was knit up in Isager Trio 1 held together with Isager Silk Mohair in complementary colors. Trio 1 is a soft and summery blend of linen, cotton and bamboo, and while we would never have thought to pair it with Silk Mohair, the resulting fabric is light and ethereal, with incredible drape and a soft halo.

We currently stock over a dozen yarns from Isager, and have already ordered a few more bases to expand our offerings. We highly encourage you to sit down with a glass of wine tonight and explore designs on Ravelry from Marianne Isager and Helga Isager to find your next project. And then come down to the shop to feel our assortment of Isager swatches and let our knowledgeable staff help you find the perfect Isager yarn combination for your next project!
