The Websters March Retreat 2027
Our March retreat is a very special meeting of minds, techniques, and yarn! We are so thrilled to be
welcoming designer Tayler Harris and Woolfolk Brand Manager Tim Wagoner as our guests for our
March retreat. Tayler is a knitwear designer and teacher based out of Salt Lake City, Utah. Her designs
are inspired by the unique landscapes of her home state, from its rugged mountains and canyons to its
expansive deserts and national parks. Tayler’s approach to design and knitwear construction is
meditative and tranquil, characteristics she hopes translate into every aspect of the knitter’s experience,
long after they’ve finished their handknit pieces.
Once again our luxurious getaway in Southern Oregon will take place at The Winchester Inn, and can
accommodate 23 guests. These retreats sell out quickly, so don’t wait to book your ticket! See full
details below.

Where You'll Stay
Our retreat begins at the luxurious Winchester Inn, located in the heart of Ashland. A mere 2 blocks from the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, the Winchester Inn has a long history of providing a boutique hotel experience for playgoers, and they are excited to welcome back our group of knitters! Each retreat guest will have their own unique room and private bathroom, which are all appointed with fresh flowers, plush terry cloth robes, Antica Farmacista toiletries, and afternoon pastry treats. We will enjoy gourmet breakfast on site each day, and use their charming parlor for social knitting in the evenings.

Classes
Short Rows with Tayler & Tim
Tayler discovered knitting when her youngest son was a baby and quickly found her true creative
calling. Today, she designs primarily for Woolfolk and teaches regularly, sharing her love of thoughtful
construction, beautiful yarns, and approachable techniques with other knitters. Tayler has created a pair
of classes for us that will explore different methods of short rows, and how to apply them in a custom
design for our retreat!
Retreat Class 1: Short Row Workshop
Short rows are one of knitting’s most versatile tools for shaping, but with several different techniques to
choose from, they can sometimes feel more complicated than they need to be. In this relaxed,
hands-on workshop, we’ll take the mystery out of short rows by exploring four different approaches:
Wrap & Turn, German, Yarnover, and Japanese short rows.
Through a series of simple swatches, you’ll practice each technique, compare the results, and learn
how and why you might choose one method over another.
Retreat Class 2: Ashland — Exclusive Retreat Design
Put your short row skills to work with an exclusive design created especially for The Websters Retreat.
This simple, elegant crescent-shaped shawl is shaped entirely with short rows, giving you the
opportunity to explore the techniques from our workshop in a beautiful finished project. But there’s
another bit of freedom built into this design: the pattern is written to work at any gauge. Also,
participants will be able to choose their favorite Woolfolk yarn and discover how the character of each
yarn transforms the finished shawl.
Culture
As always, we will be seeing a play at OSF, and this time you will have a choice of 2 plays:
Hamlet: A quintessential story of vengeance, madness, and mortality featuring some of
Shakespeare’s most rivetingly transcendent language, Hamlet is perfect for Shakespeare fans
A Loco-Motive For Murder: When newspaper tycoon Edmund Blaublüt turns up dead on a
swanky European train, the stage is set for murder … and hilarity! This will be an evening
performance in the Indoor theater.
Testimonals
"Being able to attend the theater was frosting on the cake! What a treat as I’ve only been to one Shakespeare play at Ashland years ago!”
“It was great! Made for a long day, but it was worth it.”
“Ahh, the play was perfect and that it was close enough to walk to was a big plus.”
"This was my very first Oregon Shakespeare Festival play, and it was so entertaining! I had a great evening."
Cuisine
Ashland is home to many incredible culinary establishments, two of which are right on site of our retreat! Our retreat includes all meals during your stay, and we will be dining at several unforgettable restaurants, including Alchemy Restaurant and Bar, and Chateaubriand 36.
