Class Sari Nordlund Workshop Beginning Cables
Description
Get started knitting cables with guest teacher Sari Nordlund, a Finnish knitwear designer whose patterns focus on texture and cables. This Beginning Cables class will cover basic left and right cables and their variations, while making the Hygge Season socks. It will also cover reading basic cable charts and how to measure the gauge across cabled fabric. Hygge Season Socks pattern is included with the class.
Prerequisite: Know how to knit, purl, cast on, bind off, knitting in the round and how to read your stitches. Sock construction will not be covered in class.
*Materials must be purchased ahead of class time.
Materials:
- 330 yards of DK weight yarn (Hazel Knits Lively DK recommended)
- US 2.5-3 DPNs or 40" circular needle for Magic Loop method
- Cable needle
- Stitch markers
- Additional DK weight scrap yarn for swatching in class (optional)
Homework:
- Prepare the cuff for the socks using US 2.5-3 needles, cast on 56 stitches
- Join in the round and work k2, p2 ribbing for 2.5"
The Websters Class Policies:
- Pre-registration is required for all classes.
- Materials must be purchased in the shop ahead of class.
- Classes have a 4-6 person limit, depending on the class.
- Classes need a minimum of 3 students to run. If the minimum is not met by 2 days prior to class, the class will be cancelled and students will be offered a refund or store credit.
- Student cancellations more than 2 days in advance will be issued a store credit.
- Student cancellations less than 2 days of class are not eligible for a store credit.
- “No shows” are not eligible for a store credit.
