As we roll over into late August, we are taking a look back at some of our favorite summer additions to the shop. The days left in summer are now counted in weeks, not months, but there is still time to cast on one more warm-weather project!
Cotton Lino from The Wandering Flock is the summer yarn of our dreams. It is a plant forward yarn with a touch of animal fiber for breathable garments that have a luxurious hand feel. Because of the combination of animal and plant fibers in this yarn, it’s suitable for fingering weight through DK weight projects, though we always recommend swatching first. The current palette of Cotton Lino truly feels multi-seasonal. You can find combinations for any season within these 12 shades, making it such a fun choice for stripes like in the Honey Petal Cardigan below!

Honey Petal was designed as that perfect transitional cardigan for spring and fall. A quick coverup with cute, quirky stripes is perfect for the summer A/C, or the shift into autumnal evenings. We love the 3 colors of Cotton Lino Andrea picked for her sample, but really it would be hard to make a bad pairing from this curated collection of colors.

Isager Mulberry Silk is a delicate, 100% silk laceweight yarn that adds softness and elegance to any project. When knitted together with other yarns, it adds a beautiful sheen, extra softness, and a cool touch. Mulberry Silk is a soft yarn, and knit alone it will pill. But we encourage you to not let that deter you from this extraordinary yarn. We recommend using it in combination with other yarns for the most rewarding outcome, like the Bluebell sample shown below!
We loved the first iteration of Bluebell, knit in Isager Soft Fine at an open gauge on a size US 7 needle. Even with "Soft" in the name, it pales in comparison to the softness achieved by holding Mulberry Silk with Silk Mohair! This dream combination creates a cloud-like fabric that will carry you through all seasons. The color combinations are so much fun, you can pick matching colors, create tonals by adding mohair in a lighter or darker shade, or go full marl with contrasting colors.

The Skyline Top uses a combination of yarn overs and decreases to create lines of moving eyelets, which are framed by soothing stockinette stitch. The simplicity of this design produces a very elegant top which you’ll love wearing all season long. The Skyline top is featured here with long sleeves, but the pattern also includes directions for a sleeveless version.

Alice is a fingering weight blend of Merinos d'Arles sheep and linen, all raised and milled locally in France and Belgium. The springy wool and luminous linen are combed and spun together, combining their durability and softness into one unique yarn.
Alice (named after Lewis Carroll's curious heroine) uses ecological dyes that comply with GOTS specifications to reduce environmental impact. This beautiful yarn is released seasonally as the linen is available, and we currently have excellent stock while supplies last!
The Back Yoke Tee was designed as a versatile piece for transitional seasons. This clever top features a split yoke, with the shoulders and top back worked sideways. Stitches are then picked up for the front and the back, and joined to work in the round. The folded edges give such a nice finish to this elegant piece made in De Rerum Natura Alice yarn.
