Class Olgajazzy Workshop - Origami Knitting Introduction AM
Description
Learn about Origami knitting with guest teacher and designer Olga Buraya-Kefelian. Olga will present her 3D knitwear design philosophy, geared toward your own discovery of origami knitwear! We will try our hand at some paper folding and learn about aspects of translating it into knitwear by either working with swatches or by casting on and working on the Miura Cowl.
Skills Needed:
Know how to knit, purl, cast on, bind off.
Skills Learned:
Introductory lecture on several basic principles of dimensional texture used in knitwear. Learning cast on and bind off varieties for stretchy edging and its purpose for dimensional knitwear. Swatching a series of techniques and reviewing all the possibilities.
Materials:
For swatching:
- 2-3 colors of 200 yards of sport or DK weight yarn
- US 4 & US 5 needle
- Miura Cowl Pattern
- Homework: none
For Miura Cowl:
- 200 yards of any sport weight non-superwash wool (we recommend De Rerum Natura Ulysse)
- Miura Cowl Pattern
- US 4 24" or shorter circular needle
- US D crochet hook
- Stitch markers
- Homework: work cast on for cowl
The Websters Class Policies:
- Pre-registration is required for all classes.
- Materials must be purchased in the shop ahead of class.
- Classes have a 4-6 person limit, depending on the class.
- Classes need a minimum of 3 students to run. If the minimum is not met by 2 days prior to class, the class will be cancelled and students will be offered a refund or store credit.
- Student cancellations more than 2 days in advance will be issued a store credit.
- Student cancellations less than 2 days of class are not eligible for a store credit.
- “No shows” are not eligible for a store credit.
