Description
This class is a continuation of our Beginning 101 class and will broaden your skills in the world of knitting. We will be making the Barley hat; a knit beanie with a ribbed edge and a garter stitch accent. Building on the use of knit and purl stitches, we will also cover knit decreases and using double pointed needles.
Prerequisites: must know how to knit, purl and knit in the round.
*Materials must be purchased ahead of class time.
Materials:
- Barley Hat pattern (provided by instructor)
- 60-130 yards of worsted weight yarn (sample in Mitchell Wool Co. Farm Friends Worsted)
- US 6 & US 8 16" circular needles
- US 8 double pointed needles
- Stitch markers
- Tapestry needle
Homework:
- Pick your size: Newborn (Baby, Toddler, Child, Adult S, M, L); Finished head circumference (approx.): 14 (16, 17.5, 19, 21, 22.5, 23.5)"
- With size US 6 needles, cast on 54 (66, 72, 78, 84, 90, 96) stitches
- Place marker and join for working in the round
- Work (K1, p1) around until the piece measures 0.75 (0.75, 1, 1, 1.25, 1.5, 1.5)" from cast on edge
- Stop and bring your work to class

- Classes have a 4-6 person limit, depending on the class.
- Classes need a minimum of 3 students to run. If the minimum is not met by 2 days prior to class, students will be notified and credited for a future class.
- Cancellations up to 48 hours in advance will be issued a store credit.
- Cancellations within 48 hours are not eligible for a refund.
