Two New Yarns from Farmer's Daughter!
May 15th 2024
We think it's important to carry yarn from companies that make a positive impact on the fiber community and beyond, and we're proud to stock two bases from The Farmer's Daughter Fibers.
Candice English, the owner and operator at The Farmer's Daughter Fibers, embodies her rich Native American heritage, family ways, and her home state of Montana into all aspects of her work. Candace started a nonprofit called Sisters United in 2019; within the first year they raised almost $20,000 (with the help of the Fiber Arts community!) for organizations who are empowering and supporting Native American Women.

First, we'd like to introduce you to Pishkun - a bouncy, lush 2-ply dk weight Montana and Wyoming raised Rambouillet. Pishkun is a fan favorite at The Farmer's Daughter Fibers (and with us, too!). Its plump hand creates soft, yet sturdy, garments. If you’re looking for a hand knit sweater with a favorite sweatshirt feel, this is your yarn! We also love pairing Pishkun with Spincycle’s Dream State for colorwork projects.
Looking for project inspiration? Here's a few of our favorites featuring Pishkun.

Next up, we have Oh Dang! - and we guarantee you’ll be saying “Oh Dang!” every time you touch this yarn from The Farmer’s Daughter. This lace weight strand is a luscious blend of Suri alpaca and silk, which boasts a fluffy halo and adds durability to any project. We love its soft, speckled, hand dyed goodness for drapey shawls and cowls - and it's also great held together with other yarns to create an elevated fabric for sweater and hat projects. Oh Dang! is also a great alternative to those sensitive to mohair.
Wisp Tank by Caitlin Hunter
Features Oh Dang! held double, and it only uses 2-4 skeins. |
