Stay Warm with These Plump Knits
Dec 9th 2024
Christmas is rapidly approaching (how is it December already?!) and we find ourselves abandoning our small gauge projects in favor of quick knits that only require a skein or two to complete. One of our go-to yarns for those last minute gifts is Spincycle Plump, a soft and oh-so-squishy 2ply that features the same gorgeous, unpredictable color changing effect you have come to expect from a Spincycle colorway.
Our favorite pattern featuring this delightful yarn is the Double Plump Hat by Maral Mokri. This easy 1x1 ribbed beanie uses 2 skeins of Spincycle Plump yarn and features an extra big double brim that’s folded over twice. We love the original version knit in the colorway Sex on the Beach (featured above), but this stylish winter hat will look good no matter what hue you choose.
If you're frequently on Ravelry, you've probably already seen Andrea Mowry's newest pattern - and it just happens to feature Spincycle Plump yarn. The Plumped Up Harlow hat is the bulky weight version of her popular Harlow hats. Ideal for beginner brioche enthusiasts, this hat is knit from the bottom up in two color brioche and is totally reversible. Andrea knit her sample (featured above) in the colorways Deep Bump and Ghost Ranch - you'll need one skein of each to make your own Plumped up Harlow.
This is probably a good time to mention that our friends over at Spincycle Yarns are getting ready to kick off their annual Plump-a-Long, and you can view all the participation details in their Ravelry group here.
Perhaps you're not in the mood to knit a hat, but you still want to try knitting with the ultra-squishy Spincycle Plump? We've got you covered with Lavanya Patricella's Beginners Brioche Cowl. This cozy cowl was designed especially for beginners that want to learn brioche - or experienced knitters that just want to knit a fast cowl!
Erin knit our shop sample (featured above) with one skein of Spincycle Plump in the color Miss Me paired with one skein of Malabrigo Chunky in the color Uva, and we love how well these yarns play together.
We're excited to announce that when the New Year arrives, we'll be staying open late every Thursday to host weekly Knit Nights down at the shop! We've been craving more time with our close knit community, and look forward to opening our doors each week to invite local makers in, with the goal of providing a welcoming space full of creative inspiration for knitters, crocheters, and handworkers of all types.
