Lumme Tee

The Lumme tee was named after the Finnish word for a water lily. Designer Sari Nordlund was inspired by the murky, dark waters of Finnish forest ponds and the contrast they create with white water lilies. She designed this tee in Knitting for Olive Pure Silk held double, making it a delicate, yet hearty, tee. We love how exceptionally wearable Lumme Tee is during these transitional months from summer into fall.

Sarah knit her Lumme tee (featured above) in the colors Olive and Powder. The Lumme tee is knit seamlessly top-down, and the yoke features stranded colorwork framed by a simple stockinette body. We recommend choosing 2 colors with some contrast for the best result.

Sarah says "I've been wanting to try knitting with Pure Silk since it landed on our shelves, and was instantly smitten with the lovely floral yoke design of the Lumme. This tee flew off the needles, and I can't wait to make another!"

Poet Scarf

Another Sari Nordlund design featuring Knitting for Olive yarns held double is the Poet Scarf. This little triangular kerchief features a wavy lace pattern that can also be found in Sari's stunning Poet Tee (shown below). This scarf can be worn in multiple ways, and the size can be easily modified by adding more pattern repeats for a larger shawl.

Our favorite thing about the Poet Scarf is you can mix and match various Knitting for Olive yarns to create your perfect DK weight fabric. We recommend trying Pure Silk paired with Soft Silk Mohair to create an ethereal fabric (like the blue version shown below), or you could opt for Merino paired with Soft Silk Mohair to create a cozy, cold weather version of this scarf. The best part of all? You'll only need one ball of each yarn to knit this, making it a quick and affordable project.
