As we reflect on 40 years of being your favorite LYS, we think it's important to show support for other small businesses here in the Pacific Northwest and help our local fiber community continue to flourish. We take pride in fostering a sense of connection and support within the PNW crafting community, and we'd like to share a few local indie dyed yarns that are new to our shelves.

First up we have Priestess, a DK weight superwash extra fine Merino from Ritual Dyes. This super squishy yarn has great stitch definition, and we love the earthen inspired colorways that are hand dyed in Portland, OR.

Murray & Co. Wool Goods is a maker of small batch, hand dyed yarns in Toledo, OR. We recently stocked up on their Yak Sock yarn, a smooth 4-ply blend of yak, Merino wool, and nylon. The naturally heathered gray base of this yarn lends itself to darker hues and we just love the moody colorways.

Yak Sock is a great choice for knitting socks (obviously!), but it works up equally well in lightweight scarves and sweaters.

Blu Fiber Company, also located in Portland, creates fiber bases that are luxurious, sustainable, and unique. We just stocked up on their Cashmerino Sock, an 80/20 blend of extra fine superwash Merino wool and Mongolian cashmere. It measures out to 16.5 microns, a grade A fiber, and when dyed, the skeins tend to “glow” from the high cashmere content. In addition to that, some of the colors are UV Reactive (they actually glow under a blacklight!), which makes this yarn different than anything else on our shelves.

Guess what's happening this weekend? It's time for our Semi-Annual Sale! You'll find deep discounts on select yarn, notions, and art to wear (deals so good, we only do it twice a year!). If you live close by, we recommend coming down to the shop on January 25th for Local Preview Day to get first dibs on sale items. As always, we recommend shopping early for the best selection.

We'll be CLOSED on Wednesday, January 24th, so our staff can prepare the shop for this big event.

2024 marks our 40th Anniversary! To celebrate our "Ruby" anniversary, we will be gifting 40 raffle prizes!
