Make This Summer Memorable
Jun 17th 2024
Summer is officially here in Southern Oregon, which means school is out and kids are home. Have you thought about teaching those kiddos in your life a new craft? We strongly believe that making things with the younger generation is a great way to keep them entertained and engaged. Whether you've got children of your own to keep busy, or are looking for something fun to make while your grandkids visit, these go-to craft kits are bound to keep little hands busy all summer long.
One of our favorite summer crafts for younger kids is weaving potholders. You probably know someone who made potholders on a loom like this when they were a child. It’s one of those wonderful old fashioned inventions that's still popular and useful today. Weaving on the Deluxe Potholder Loom is fun, and easy to do for all ages - plus it also helps kids develop important skills like hand-eye coordination. Each kit comes with enough loops to make 6 colorful potholders (and you can buy additional loops here if you need them!).

Have you heard of the Woobles?!? These cute little critter kits are perfect for anyone who wants to learn how to crochet! Each kit comes with all the materials you need, plus step-by-step video tutorials that expertly guide you through each stitch and technique, and a pre-started piece so you can get straight to the fun. Be careful, you might get hooked!
Note that Woobles are recommended for children ages 12+
Another great project to try is needle felting, especially if you've got a group who wants to learn together. This fun craft uses a special barbed needle to sculpt and shape wool fibers into 3D objects, and with just a few basic supplies and some patience, you can create unique felted animals or sculptures. We find needle felting to be a relaxing, therapeutic activity that allows you to express your creativity and make something truly one-of-a-kind.
Not sure where to start? We offer a variety of kits! From project specific sets like these adorable Felted Sky Succulents (featured above left), to starter sets that let your imagination guide you like the Woolbuddy Needle Felting Starter Kit (featured above right), you're sure to find something inspiring.
