Knitting for Olive is Here
Apr 25th 2024
Every once in a while, we find a brand that checks all the boxes: inspiring colors, ethically sourced fibers, and timeless patterns. Knitting for Olive is all that and more - and we're thrilled to announce their stunning yarns just landed on our shelves.
Knitting for Olive is a mother-daughter team based in Copenhagen, Denmark. This family run business is focused on creating knitting patterns and high-quality yarn with respect for animals and the environment.
"Through history the yarn industry has not been transparent concerning animal and social welfare. It is our goal to be honest and transparent in everything we do and, in this way, create awareness about animal welfare in yarn production. Our vision has been to create a delicate, environmental and animal friendly yarn. Our yarn is made of 100% natural material in a good quality in a multitude of beautiful colors."

We are seeing a big trend of combining yarns to create unique fabrics, and that is a specialty of Knitting for Olive. In addition to the silky, soft halo Soft Silk Mohair provides, it also expands your color options! We love watching their Instagram feed for images like the above, taking a single color of Merino and swatching it with dozens of colors of Soft Silk Mohair for incredible effects!
Here are a couple of our favorite projects that combine these two yarns:
Bindweed by Ksenia Naidyon
Merino: 4-7 balls |
Poetria by Sari Nordlund
Merino: 4-8 balls |
Pure Silk was the first yarn to turn our heads from Knitting for Olive. This raw silk fingering weight is ethically produced, OEKO-TEX certified, and is ALSO an incredible value at just $13 for 270+ yards of pure silk! Knit single strand it is an effortlessly airy fabric that floats over your skin. We also love it held double for a breathable and elegant summertime fabric that knits up quickly on a size US 5-7!
