While all the blankets in this book are beautiful, we decided to do a quick round up of our favorite worsted weight patterns from within its pages. The Cabin Quilt by Jared Flood (featured above) was designed as a knit replica of his mother's hand quilted log cabin blankets, and was a source of inspiration for the whole collection.
The modular construction of the log cabin block translates beautifully to knitting, with every small block being its own portable project. Each easy-to-knit block uses only the classic knit stitch (no purling involved!), and then you create as many as you like to create the size blanket you desire. The Cabin Quilt pattern is knit in Brooklyn Tweed Shelter yarn; a distinctive Targhee-Columbia wool spun into a rustic 2ply, lofty worsted weight yarn that offers remarkable warmth and lightness.

The Canyonland blanket by Aistė Butkevičienė is a master class in tone blending and texture. Knit in Brooklyn Tweed Tones yarn, this striking eight-color blanket is a series of short rows creating waves of color and repeating circles reminiscent of traditional paper-pieced quilts. These shapely organic waves are softer than traditional stripes, and their tonal color combinations yield a beautiful optical effect.
Tones is a versatile worsted weight, woolen spun yarn with a round, springy 3ply construction. The light and dark heathered base yarns are overdyed with traditional techniques to create “Tone Pairs” of 24 harmonious shades, offering countless options for creativity; explore creative color stories of your own to make a one-of-a-kind piece that stimulates your imagination.

Branching by Amy van de Laar is a sumptuous, cabled blanket that feels both traditional and modern. Worked in the smooth, bouncy Imbue yarn, the motifs are carved in relief-like detail. The lush unfolding cables were inspired by the natural symmetry of leaves and branching trees, and bring echoes of the great outdoors into the heart of the home.
Brooklyn Tweed Imbue is a marvelously round and springy yarn with stunning definition in cables and textured stitch patterns. This 5ply yarn is worsted-spun from next-to-skin soft American Merino wool and knits up into a luxurious fabric with heirloom durability. Its heathered and rich colorways harmonize beautifully in colorwork and stripes making it perfect for soft, cozy garments and accessories.

Overlay by Vincent Williams is a Bauhaus-inspired crocheted throw. Overlay artfully combines colors to create the appearance of a bold accent stripe overlaid on an abstract composition of black rectangles. Inspired by the layers of transparency in a paned greenhouse, this design will feel right at home in playful, modern spaces.
Crocheted in Brooklyn Tweed Shelter, the fabric of Overlay is worked using basic single crochet stitches, allowing the colorful geometry of the intarsia design to take center stage. The blanket pictured uses four colors, though it’s easy to envision ways of exploring the design using six, eight, or more.
