Come for the Community

Our retreat begins at the luxurious Winchester Inn, located in the heart of Ashland. A mere 2 blocks from the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, the Winchester Inn has a long history of providing a boutique hotel experience for playgoers, and they are excited to welcome their first group of knitters! Each retreat guest will have their own unique and private room and bath, which are all appointed with fresh flowers, plush terry cloth robes, designer toiletries, and afternoon pastry treats. We will enjoy gourmet breakfast on site each day and will be using their charming parlor as a classroom space each morning.

*Please contact us upon registration if you have accessibility requirements for your stay and we will be sure to accommodate you.

Come for the Classes

Cecelia Campochiaro appeared on the knitting scene in 2015 with her debut book, Sequence Knitting; a reference book about creating texture with simple repeatable patterns. Her second book, Making Marls, delves into the technique of working multiple strands together as one to create colorwork in handknitting. Cecelia is a master of “unventing” new ways to make amazing knit fabrics, and we have 2 great classes to delve into her techniques:

EASY REVERSIBLE KNITTING PART 1—TEXTURE

This is a relaxed class is about creating reversible textured fabrics that are ideal for social knitting. We’ll
discuss what makes a stitch pattern easy versus challenging and how different yarns can transform stitch patterns. You will be able to choose a pattern to swatch that you can also make into a scarf or shawl. The ideas in this class are from my next book, Layered Sequence Knitting, and build on Sequence Knitting. No prior knowledge of sequence knitting is needed.

EASY REVERSIBLE KNITTING PART 2—COLOR

This is a continuation of part 1, but now our focus will be on adding color by using fine stripes—stripes where you can carry the yarn up the sides—to add color and visual interest to stitch patterns. The colors can be spare or vibrant, as you prefer. The ideas in this class are from my next book, Layered Sequence Knitting, and build on both Sequence Knitting and Making Marls.

Come for the Culture

“I am no bird; and no net ensnares me.”

We simply could not host a knitting retreat this year without including tickets to Jane Eyre at The Oregon Shakespeare Festival. This Gothic masterpiece about one of the most beloved heroines in literary history shines bright in this adaptation by Elizabeth Williamson. We are thrilled to have reserved seats in the historic outdoor Elizabethan Theater on our final night of the retreat; a very special end to any visit to Ashland.

Come for the Cuisine

Ashland is home to many incredible culinary establishments, two of which are right on site of our retreat! Our retreat includes all meals during your stay, and we will be dining at several unforgettable restaurants, including Alchemy Restaurant and Bar, and Chateaubriand 36.

“Embark on a culinary journey through the vibrant flavors of Ashland, where each dish is a celebration of local ingredients, expert craftsmanship, and an unwavering commitment to delivering an unparalleled dining experience.”
- Chateaubriand 36

*Please contact us if you have dietary requirements for your stay and we will be sure to accommodate you.

Come for the Wine

Southern Oregon is home to many award-winning wineries and vineyards, and we will enjoy an afternoon of tasting at two of our favorites! Transportation and tastings are all included. Bring a portable knitting project and enjoy the lovely vistas and incomparable wines of Irvine & Roberts, and Weisinger Family Winery.

Come for the Yarn

And of course, our retreat will include ample time at our beloved Local Yarn Shop! We will be hosting a private shopping event on Monday night and have opportunities throughout the week for you to visit and explore our huge selection of yarn, spinning and weaving equipment, Art to Wear clothing and jewelry, and so much more. We can’t wait to meet you and share our knowledge and enthusiasm for all things fiber!
