We just received a restock from Manos del Uruguay, and we're SO excited to have the beloved Sami & Marla back on our shelves! These scrumptiously soft sister yarns are both DK weight, 100% superwash Merino with an incredible hand. We've had a lot of inquiries asking what to knit with these special yarns, so we've put together Saturn Shawl kits!

This fun knit is an asymmetrical triangle worked from one long point to the opposite short side, all in trusty garter stitch. We love how the stripes of semisolid Sami against a background of multicolor Marla are reminiscent of Saturn’s rings in this pattern. Each kit contains all the yarn you need to make the shawl (2 skeins of Marla, 1 skein of Sami) and the Saturn Shawl pattern designed by Sarah E. Chapman.

Curious to hear more about this fabulous yarn? Marla is made from two strands of lightweight yarn that have been dyed separately and then plied together. When worked, Marla creates a marled fabric where the colors are uniquely distributed resulting in a yarn that can be high-contrast tweedy or subtly tonal, or even a combination of each in the same colorway. The Marla palette coordinates beautifully with the Sami palette for creating stunning garments and accessories.

Sami is spun of the same fiber and to the same weight as Marla, though it is dyed after plying. Its semisolid colors are dyed specifically to coordinate with the Marla palette, but it also plays well on its own as a superwash DK weight Merino.

Each unique colorway of Marla is designed to coordinate with the semisolid hues of Sami.
