Transhumance, recognized as Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO, connects seasons, landscapes and history through the cañadas reales, ancient drovers’ roads that still preserve the essence of this sustainable grazing system. The name of this collection, 90 Varas, refers to the traditional unit of measurement once based on the vara, a staff carried by shepherds for support and, in earlier centuries, also used as a measuring tool. The standard width of these routes was set at 90 varas, equivalent to 75 meters.  Stretching more than 125,000 kilometers and covering 1% of Spanish territory, they stand as a living testimony to the balance between nature and human activity.
