December is right around the corner, and if you're anything like us, you're probably starting to feel like you're running short on time to make gifts for your loved ones. If you need ideas, or maybe even a little motivation, we've got just thing for you... a Gift-a-Long! 

Our Holiday Gift-a-Long is a three week knit-a-along focused around quick to knit projects. At the start of each week we'll be casting on a new project that you can knit in a week (or less!), and at the end of the third week you'll have 3 sweet knits to gift. Starting November 30th, you can join us in-store each Sunday at 4pm to cast on that week's project (and get to know our fantastic fiber community in the process).

Week 1: The World's Simplest Mittens

For Week 1 of our Holiday Gift-a-Long, we'll be knitting The World's Simplest Mittens by Tin Can Knits. This fantastic pattern was designed to work with a variety of gauges and yarn weights, but in the spirit of keeping things quick, we're opting for the chunky weight version. Erin knit our sample mittens (featured above) in Malabrigo Vientos, a soft, superwash Merino wool that's perfect for oh-so-cozy accessories. You'll only need 1 skein for sizes toddler through adult small, but we'd recommend buying 2 skeins if you want to knit the adult medium or large. 

If you're local, we'd love for you to come down to the store and kick off the Holiday Gift-a-Long with us this Sunday, November 30th, at 4pm. Erin and Christina will be here to help you cast on, and offer tips and tricks to ensure your mitten knitting experience is a great one.

Week 2: Holiday Doodle Cup Cozy

For Week 2 of our Holiday Gift-a-Long, we'll be knitting a Holiday Doodle Cup Cozy designed by Jamie Lomax. These cute, winter themed cup cozies are the perfect addition to the aspiring low-waste, coffee fan! The Holiday Doodle Cup Cozy pattern includes 4 main motifs: Pine Trees, Snowflakes, Buffalo Check Plaid, and Festive Lights. The pattern calls for 2-3 colors of a DK weight yarn, and Erin knit these samples in Berroco Ultra Wool DK. We love this yarn for its wide range of colors and machine washability.

Week 3: Viima Beanie

For Week 3 of our Holiday Gift-a-Long, we'll be knitting the Viima Beanie designed by Veera Välimäki. This ribbed hat is knit from the brim up in a bulky weight yarn, making it perfect for last minute gifts. Christina knit our sample (shown above) using Bread & Butter Bun Yarn. This super squishy, chunky weight yarn is a 100% Merino wool that's grown, dyed and spun right here in the USA. You'll only need 1 skein to make the Viima Beanie, but this hat works up so quick we have a feeling you'll want to make more than one before the week is done!
