The Sock Obsession
Feb 2nd 2026
Dive into The Sock Obsession; a vibrant new release by Summer Lee, renowned sock knitting expert and author of the beloved The Sock Project. This delightful book showcases an array of sock styles, from cozy boot socks and chic ankle socks to trendy loafer and cuffed varieties, along with a treasure trove of techniques. With 25 easy-to-follow patterns, you can explore cables, colorwork, ribs, and textured knitting, then personalize your creations to craft countless unique looks.
Each chapter features a delightful mix of traditional Scandinavian and European sock styles, mod designs that would make MoMA proud, and playful motifs like mushrooms, sheep, and even lobsters! Socks are beloved by knitters since they work up quickly, use less yarn than larger projects, and offer endless customization options. This collection not only makes learning to knit socks fun, but also provides a clear path for new knitters to build their skills, starting with the basics and advancing to more challenging designs.

RESISTANCE IN STITCHES
Wow. I admit, I was not expecting to sell out of red yarn this week, but we are certainly getting close to that! What an amazing outpouring of support from our community, who are clearly looking for ways to help. We will continue to cover the purchase of the Melt the Ice hat pattern with any purchase of red yarn. We would also like to point out the Red Hat of Resistance pattern by @Heretoinfinity as this free pattern calls for Bulky weight yarn where we still have more red inventory.
"In the 1940’s, Norwegians made and wore red pointed hats with a tassel as a form of visual protest against Nazi occupation of their country. Within two years, the Nazis made these protest hats illegal and punishable by law to wear, make, or distribute. As purveyors of traditional craft, we felt it appropriate to revisit this design."
Fiber arts are more than just a hobby, they're a means of expressing our courage and resilience. Join us in casting on a "Melt the Ice" hat in solidarity with our friends in Minnesota, and around the country.
How we will help:
Online: We will purchase and include a copy of this pattern for every order with red yarn for the next few weeks.
Local: Come in the store and we will cover the cost of the pattern for you on request.
Matching: On February 10th, we will match the amount made in these pattern purchases, and donate it to ICE relief organizations.
