Something New From Rowan Just Arrived
Nov 10th 2025
We just received a shipment from Rowan, and we were so excited to unpack boxes of their newest yarn, Felted Tweed Soft! Felted Tweed Soft is a luxurious variation of Rowan's classic Felted Tweed. The blend of high quality fiber gives softness and durability, while the tweedy flecks add depth and character. Felted Tweed Soft is an Aran weight yarn that creates a warm, yet lightweight fabric while maintaining the rustic, heathered look of the much-loved original. This scrumptious new yarn is composed of 64% wool, 20% nylon, 8% alpaca, and 8% viscose, and is currently available in a curated palette mirroring ten classic Felted Tweed shades.

In support of their new yarn, Rowan also released the Felted Tweed Soft Collection; twelve designs by Martin Storey, Lisa Richardson, Georgia Farrell and Chloe Thurlow. The patterns (all versatile, everyday knits) beautifully showcase the new Felted Tweed Soft. This collection is definitely a celebration of winter style, full of perfectly cozy sweaters, cardigans, shawls and accessories.
We especially love Lisa Richardson's Poplin vest, featured above in the shade Camel. We think a knitted vest is such a handy layer, and this ribbed cable design will take you through autumn, winter and beyond. This is a classic knit whose versatility will make it a go-to cold weather wardrobe staple for many years to come.
The stunning Buckram cardigan by Martin Storey is inspired by Welsh blanket patterns. This piece features a combination of Fair Isle and intarsia to create the beautiful patterning. Buckram is knit using four shades of Felted Tweed Soft, shown above in the shades Clay, Lotus Leaf, Ginger and Seafarer. No matter what colors you choose, we guarantee this stylish cardigan will keep you warm and cozy all season long.

Another new arrival from Rowan, is Kaffe Fassett's Autumn/Winter 2025-2026 palette of 7 new shades of Felted Tweed and Kidsilk Haze yarns. To celebrate these vibrant hues, we've gone ahead and built a kit featuring his new pattern Winter Sunset scarf for you.
This simple, striped scarf is large enough to wear as a shawl or wrap and showcases Kaffe's brilliant use of color. The kit includes all the yarn you need to knit the scarf: 7 balls of Rowan Kidsilk Haze yarn and 7 balls of Rowan Felted Tweed yarn in complementary colors, and the Winter Sunset Scarf pattern designed by Kaffe Fassett.

Whether you're a temperature blanket pro, new to the process, or looking for an unscripted project that literally changes with the weather, we invite you to join our 2026 Temperature Blanket Make-a-Long! We've created both a FB Group and a Ravelry Group for this MAL, and we encourage you to join one (or both!) to share your progress and stay in touch with other participants.
If you're local, come down to the shop anytime before the first of the year to get your supplies! We've got pattern suggestions (crochet & knit options available), an informative temperature scale worksheet, and are more than happy to help you choose your yarn and color palette. We recommend using a machine washable, worsted weight yarn like Berroco Vintage or Berroco Ultra Wool for this project.
This Make-a-Long will run through the entire year of 2026, and we highly encourage you to attend our monthly MAL meetups. Having the support and encouragement of your local crafting community is a great way to stay on track, even when life gets busy. Thursday, January 8th at 5:30pm will be our first Team Temperature Blanket check-in. Beginning in February, we'll be having regular MAL check-ins down at the shop the first Thursday of every month from 5:30-7:30pm.
Not local? Don't worry! Even if you can't join in person, you can still participate from afar - just pick your preferred knit or crochet pattern, choose your yarn, and get started on January 1st. Our MAL hosts Paula and Sarah will be sharing their blanket progress online throughout the year, and we'd love to see your progress too - don't forget to join our MAL groups below, and tag us on IG @yarnatwebsters
