Say Hello to Amano
Aug 27th 2025
Remember how we mentioned we've got new yarns arriving daily? Well, in some cases, we have entire new-to-us brands arriving daily! The most recent addition to our brand offerings is Amano, a sophisticated Peruvian line of yarns. For thousands of years, the people of the Andes have made offerings to the gods they believe reside in the mountains, the earth, the rivers and the sky. Amano honors those ancient traditions in our modern era by providing luxurious natural yarns that bring the Andes into your hands.
Amano works with the finest natural fibers to offer a unique and exclusive experience to knitters who value origin, creativity, generosity and tradition. We're honored to become one of their stockists, and are thrilled to introduce you to a few of their bases.

"From Peru, Argentina and passing through Chile. A new adventure begins where the peaks and sounds surround us to inspire and show the most beautiful of its fibers, the Patagonia wool. In one of the most difficult geographical areas to be developed, it brings us a fascinating and unique wool in the world. Its incredible softness and fineness reaches Amano's universe to become a skein full of culture, history and beauty. Wrap with us in this story that has just begun."
Amano Riti, a 100% Merino wool from Patagonia, is a beautiful, bouncy, non-superwash worsted weight yarn. Riti has fantastic stitch definition, so we love the idea of using this to work up our next cozy cabled sweater like the Book Club Pullover by Sari Nordlund (featured above). We currently have over 15 colors of Amano Riti in stock to choose from.

The changing textures are engaging to work and the gansey-style finished piece is fun to wear! | Pair Riti with your favorite skeins of Spincycle Dream State to knit Andrea Mowry's Framed sweater. Framed by a bold hem, neckline and cuffs, this stunning colorwork sweater is a modern nod to traditional quilting stars. |
"Travel on ancient paths through Asia, Turkey and our native Andes to experience a unique, crafted fiber full of the spirit of travel and ancient wisdom. Blended from the ancient silk worm in China, to mohair from the Turkish Ottoman Empire, and our native Incan Suri Alpaca - bred for its noble properties, this yarn has traversed the historical empires to find the softest and most regal yarn."
Amano Uma is a luscious, laceweight blend of 37% Baby Suri, 37% Super Kid Mohair, and 26% Mulberry Silk. This featherlight yarn boasts a big halo and is excellent for elegant sweaters and light accessories. We love it held double for stunning garments like PetiteKnit's Cumulus Blouse (featured above), but it's also fantastic held with Riti to add a bit of cozy halo to your favorite patterns.
