Resistance in Stitches
Jan 27th 2026
This year is off to a rough start.
It's getting harder and harder to know how to proceed with normal life in the face of so much destruction, violence, and hatred. When doing nothing feels impossible, craft can offer a small form of quiet resistance, and help unite us in our hope for change.
"In the 1940’s, Norwegians made and wore red pointed hats with a tassel as a form of visual protest against Nazi occupation of their country. Within two years, the Nazis made these protest hats illegal and punishable by law to wear, make, or distribute. As purveyors of traditional craft, we felt it appropriate to revisit this design."
Fiber arts are more than just a hobby, they're a means of expressing our courage and resilience. Join us in casting on a "Melt the Ice" hat in solidarity with our friends in Minnesota, and around the country.
How we will help:
Online: We will purchase and include a copy of this pattern for every order with red yarn for the next few weeks.
Local: Come in the store and we will cover the cost of the pattern for you on request.
Matching: On February 10th, we will match the amount made in these pattern purchases, and donate it to ICE relief organizations.
