Our Rosa Pomar Restock is Here

Our Rosa Pomar Restock is Here

Apr 7th 2026

We've been thinking about warm weather garments a lot lately, but it's a rainy week here in Ashland and it definitely makes us want to keep creating cozy things. We just received our highly anticipated restock from Rosa Pomar, and we're here to say don't sleep on this one! Rosa Pomar is a company that produces yarn made exclusively from Portuguese wool, created in collaboration with small breeders associations and shepherds. All of Rosa Pomar's heritage wool yarns are minimally processed, non-superwash, free of silicone based softeners and animal friendly (mulesing is not practiced in Porutugal).

This restock contains their coveted, newest yarn Matiz (featured above). Matiz is an Aran weight, 100% wool yarn, produced from the wool of Portuguese native breeds, Campaniça and Merino Preto. This yarn is worsted spun (just like their popular Mondim and Vovó bases), with a pleasant squishy touch that makes it absolutely perfect for warm sweaters and cozy cardigans. Matiz is well suited to textured knitting such as brioche and cables, and is currently available in three natural hues and ten dyed, heathered shades.

To celebrate last fall's launch of Matiz, Rosa Pomar released Salomão, a darling little sheep motif hat. This pattern calls for two balls of Matiz in contrasting colors (1 ball of each color), and we heard a rumor that you can actually get two hats from those two balls, just reverse your colors! Added bonus? Rosa herself insists that knitting one of these hats up takes just four hours to make - we'd call that a pretty quick knit!

If you're seasonally past making cozy things with Aran weight wools, might we recommend trying out Rosa Pomar Vovó? Portuguese for Grandma, Vovó is a versatile and hard wearing, non-superwash and non-bleached yarn made entirely from fine Portuguese wool, mainly from Serra da Estrela sheep. Vovó is a versatile sport weight yarn, and we especially love it for transitional sweaters, cardigans and tees intended for daily wear.

ONE MORE WEEK UNTIL KNIT FOR FOOD!

The sixth annual Knit for Food knit-a-thon is NEXT SATURDAY. This is our second year participating in Knit for Food, and we've set up Team Websters again - lead by our staffer Sarah, who has committed to knitting for the cause. There are two ways to support the Knit for Food knit-a-thon: You can donate OR you can sign up to knit/craft for 12hrs.

If you're local, we'd love for you to come out and join Team Websters for an afternoon of crafting on April 11th, even if you're not doing the whole marathon. We'll be hosting a public meet-up at Clyde's Corner from 12-4pm. Out of respect for our friends over at Clyde's, we need an accurate headcount for our meet-up, so please RSVP here if you plan on joining. Our group table reservation is limited to 15 people; thanks for understanding, and we hope to see you there!

Please click the button below to join us on Team Websters, donate to the cause, or to simply learn more about this year's Knit for Food knit-a-thon.
