A few years ago we knit a sample of Andrea Mowry's The Shift cowl for the shop, and it continues to be one of our most beloved pieces. While Andrea's original version of The Shift stuns with it's hues of teal, blue, and green, we threw caution to the wind and knit a warm toned version - and it really opened up our eyes to how well this accessory works up in ANY color combo. Between our staff and our customers, we've seen this amazing pattern knit up in dozens of different color combinations, and they've all been gorgeous.

If you're not familiar with The Shift, it's a fun and engaging mosaic pattern with "shifting" colors. It looks like an asymmetrical triangle shawl, but only takes a fiddle-free second to throw it on as the finishing touch to any outfit. The Shift cowl is a perfect wear all-the-time  accessory, and the answer for those of you who love to knit shawls but have a hard time styling them. This project features 3 colors of Spincycle Dyed in the Wool, and we know it can be hard to build your own palette - so we've done the work for you, and just restocked our shelves with 10 new The Shift cowl kit colorways!! Note that each The Shift cowl kit includes a physical copy of the pattern.

Colorway O gives us earthen, spring vibes and contains 1 skein each of Miss Me, Cold Comfort and Mzuzu.	Colorway P embraces electric hues and contains 1 skein each of Eleventh Hour, Big Sky and Dear Diary.
Colorway Q begs to be knit with your morning coffee, and contains 1 skein each of House Blend, Scranton and Something Wicked.	Colorway R offers a playful break from your routine, and contains 1 skein each of Side Quest, Midsommar, and Kolkata.

If you're interested in knitting The Shift cowl, but haven't done mosaic knitting before, we highly recommend giving The Pressed Flowers hat a try! Designed by Amy Christoffers, this happy little hat is a great intro to mosaic knitting. Unlike traditional stranded colorwork (where you're using two or more strands at a time), mosaic knitting uses only one strand at a time. In addition to making colorwork simpler to manage, you get fewer floats and a more flexible fabric.

We currently have a handful of Pressed Flowers Hat kits in stock, in a variety of colorways to chose from. Each kit includes the pattern, and 1 skein each of Spincycle Dyed in the Wool and Brooklyn Tweed Tones Light in coordinating colors. Note that these kits are Limited Edition, now that Brooklyn Tweed has retired from making yarn we won't be restocking.
