Get Festive with These Quick Knits!
Dec 3rd 2025
Have you started your handmade holiday gifts yet?! Don't worry, most of us haven't either - but it's definitely time to dust off those needles and get making. Whether it's a quick hat or a cozy cowl, there's something that feels extra special about giving when it's handknit and from the heart.
In preparation for holiday gift making, we restocked one of our favorite quick to knit yarns - Malabrigo Rasta. This super bulky, single-ply is 100% Merino wool; meaning it's oh-so soft, and it works up fast on a range of needle sizes (US 13-19). To get you inspired we thought we'd share some of our favorite accessory patterns, all of which require 1-2 skeins and work up quick. That means if you start this week, you've got plenty of time to knit something for every special someone in your life!
The True Love Beanie designed by Kristel Nieves is a fun, fast knit, and happens to be great for a first colorwork project. It’s written for five yarn weights (featured here in Super Bulky Rasta), and offers endless color combination possibilities.
To knit the True Love Beanie, you'll need 2 colors of Rasta - and we currently have OVER 60 colors in stock (yes, you read that right!). We also recommend grabbing a KFI Furreal Pom Pom to finish off the top of your hat.
If you're in love with the True Love beanie, try your hands at some of these other True Love patterns from Kristel Nieves.

One of our favorite quick knit projects is the Rainbow Twist cowl designed by Thao Nguyen. Sometimes your neck needs a hug, and this will do the trick! The Rainbow Twist cowl requires just 1 skein of Malabrigo Rasta, and looks great with variegated yarn - but would look equally chic in a solid color.
If you find yourself scrambling to make just one more last minute gift, we recommend casting on a pair of Lightning Fast Mittens designed by Hill Vintage & Knits. These ultra squishy mittens have 2 size options and require just one skein of Malabrigo Rasta per pair.
We absolutely adore the stack of Lighting Fast Mittens featured above that were knit by Ravelry user KnitsbyMelissa. Doesn't it inspire you to make a pair for everyone you know this holiday season?

Whether you're a temperature blanket pro, new to the process, or looking for an unscripted project that literally changes with the weather, we invite you to join our 2026 Temperature Blanket Make-a-Long! We've created both a FB Group and a Ravelry Group for this MAL, and we encourage you to join one (or both!) to share your progress and stay in touch with other participants.
If you're local, come down to the shop anytime before the first of the year to get your supplies! We've got pattern suggestions (crochet & knit options available), an informative temperature scale worksheet, and are more than happy to help you choose your yarn and color palette. We recommend using a machine washable, worsted weight yarn like Berroco Vintage or Berroco Ultra Wool for this project.
This Make-a-Long will run through the entire year of 2026, and we highly encourage you to attend our monthly MAL meetups. Having the support and encouragement of your local crafting community is a great way to stay on track, even when life gets busy. Thursday, January 8th at 5:30pm will be our first Team Temperature Blanket check-in. Beginning in February, we'll be having regular MAL check-ins down at the shop the first Thursday of every month from 5:30-7:30pm.
Not local? Don't worry! Even if you can't join in person, you can still participate from afar - just pick your preferred knit or crochet pattern, choose your yarn, and get started on January 1st. Our MAL hosts Paula and Sarah will be sharing their blanket progress online throughout the year, and we'd love to see your progress too - don't forget to join our MAL groups below, and tag us on IG @yarnatwebsters
