Discover the Beauty of Andes
Mar 3rd 2026
Inspired by the majestic Andes, Amano's new Andes yarn captures the rugged beauty and rich culture of this iconic mountain range. The snow-capped peaks and steep cliffs create a natural canvas of breathtaking colors where the sky meets the mountains, resulting in a dance of natural hues. Crafted from superfine alpaca and wool, Andes yarn offers the softness and warmth of alpaca combined with rustic wool charm. Using a woolen spun technique, the yarn achieves remarkable lightness, making it ideal for versatile projects. With excellent stitch definition and a unique tweed effect, it adds delightful specks of color that reflect the Andes' spirit of adaptation and resilience, as well as the cultural richness of Peru.
This DK weight yarn has 164 yards per 50g ball, and is currently available in 19 stunning tweedy hues.
In their most recent Fall/Winter Lookbook, Amano released a handful of patterns to support the release of Andes yarn. Featured above, clockwise from the top left is:

Anytime a new yarn arrives at the shop, we "hit the books" and hop on Ravelry to explore what people are making with it. Andes isn't just new to us, it's a newly released yarn in the Amano collection, so there aren't too many projects available to explore yet. No worries, there's still a handful of trusty Ravelry users whom have used Amano Andes, and here are our favorite of their finished projects to give you a little more knitting inspo!
