Did Someone Say Plump-a-Long?
Nov 12th 2025
Our friends over at Spincycle Yarns just announced their 3rd annual Plump-a-Long! This PAL runs from November 1 through December 13. The participation rules are pretty simple... knit anything you like in Spincycle's Plump yarn, snap a picture and enter it to win one of their fabulous prizes. You can find all the details about the Spincycle Plump-a-Long and read the fine print here.
Not familiar with Plump? Plump is a soft, warm and oh-so-squishy yarn from Spincycle. It's kettle dyed on American grown wool in some of their favorite colorways, with a great mix of old standards and flashy new ones. Spun in their custom Italian mills, this 2ply bulky weight yarn knits up quick and has the same gorgeous, unpredictable color changing effect you have come to expect from a Spincycle colorway. We've rounded up a few of our favorite Plump hat patterns to help get you inspired - all of which work up fairly quick, making them fantastic gift knit options!
Gushy Garter Hat
by Park Williams
This simple, garter stitch hat is knit in the round from the brim up with subtle side seam detailing. The texture of garter stitch adds extra "gush" to this hat, and the folded brim adds an extra layer of cozy. the Gushy Garter Hat is this year's Spincycle Plump-a-Long bonus pattern, so knit as many as you can for a chance at the bonus prize! You can find the pattern here.
Sizes: 1 (2,3)
Skeins of Plump: 1 (2, 2) *without pom pom
Needle Size: US 10.5
Park is shown above wearing the size 2 (Adult S/M) on a 22” head.
Plumped Up Harlow
by Andrea Mowry
The Plumped Up Harlow is one of our go-to hat patterns for quick gift knits. Ideal for beginner brioche enthusiasts, this hat is knit from the bottom up in two color brioche and totally reversible, which makes it almost like two hats in one! You can find the pattern here. If you want to take your brioche skills to the next level, Andrea also designed a matching brioche cowl knit in Spincycle Plump that you can find here.
Sizes: 1 (2,3)
Skeins of Plump: 1 skein each of TWO COLORS for all sizes
Needle Size: US 9
Andrea is shown above wearing the Size 2 on a 21” head.
Double Plump Hat
by Maral Mokri
The Double Plump Hat is a 1x1 ribbed hat that features an extra large, double brim that’s folded over twice. This bulky weight pattern uses double knitting, a technique that allows us to create a natural fold in our work. This results in a folded brim that’ll always stay in place, making this hassle free hat super easy to style and wear. You can find the pattern here.
Sizes: Baby, Toddler, Child (Adult S, Adult M, Adult L)
Skeins of Plump: 1, 1, 2, (2, 2, 2)
Needle Size: US 10.5

Whether you're a temperature blanket pro, new to the process, or looking for an unscripted project that literally changes with the weather, we invite you to join our 2026 Temperature Blanket Make-a-Long! We've created both a FB Group and a Ravelry Group for this MAL, and we encourage you to join one (or both!) to share your progress and stay in touch with other participants.
If you're local, come down to the shop anytime before the first of the year to get your supplies! We've got pattern suggestions (crochet & knit options available), an informative temperature scale worksheet, and are more than happy to help you choose your yarn and color palette. We recommend using a machine washable, worsted weight yarn like Berroco Vintage or Berroco Ultra Wool for this project.
This Make-a-Long will run through the entire year of 2026, and we highly encourage you to attend our monthly MAL meetups. Having the support and encouragement of your local crafting community is a great way to stay on track, even when life gets busy. Thursday, January 8th at 5:30pm will be our first Team Temperature Blanket check-in. Beginning in February, we'll be having regular MAL check-ins down at the shop the first Thursday of every month from 5:30-7:30pm.
Not local? Don't worry! Even if you can't join in person, you can still participate from afar - just pick your preferred knit or crochet pattern, choose your yarn, and get started on January 1st. Our MAL hosts Paula and Sarah will be sharing their blanket progress online throughout the year, and we'd love to see your progress too - don't forget to join our MAL groups below, and tag us on IG @yarnatwebsters
