A Fond Farewell to a Friend

It is with heavy hearts that we share news about the closure of one of our most beloved brands, The Fibre Co. After more than two decades of creating beautiful skeins, The Fibre Co. has announced that they will be retiring from selling yarn. We were fortunate enough to be able to place one last order from Fibre Co., and the restock has just arrived at the shop! We encourage you to get your favorite bases while they're here, because once sold out, they'll be gone from our shelves forever.

While it's impossible to pick a favorite yarn from The Fibre Co, we have to admit that Acadia is near the top of our list. Inspired by rugged rocky coastlines, Acadia is a rustic blend of fine Merino wool (providing warmth) and baby alpaca and silk noil (adding drape and luster as well as an interesting knobbly texture). The heathered appearance of this DK weight yarn is achieved from a kettle dyeing process that creates the subtle duotones for which The Fibre Co. has become known, and we currently have over 25 stunning colors of Acadia in stock for you to choose from.

The Fibre Co. Road to China Light yarn was inspired by the luxury textiles that were traded along the ancient Silk Road. This sport weight yarn blends baby alpaca, camel, cashmere, and silk to create a fabric with a soft halo and enough definition to explore subtle textures. With a color palette inspired by polished precious stones, Road to China Light is a yarn for creating something truly special. We absolutely love using it for the Sophie Scarf by PetiteKnit - and you only need one skein to knit the large size (featured above in the color Carnelian).

Made in England’s historical textile region of West Yorkshire, The Fiber Co. Lore is 100% lambswool from the Romney sheep, locally known as Kent lamb. It is an honest woolen-spun, DK weight yarn that blooms beautifully after washing, making it a perfect yarn for colorwork. Garments made from Lore will wear well and are perfect for everyday and special adventures alike. Lore is also available in 25g mini balls, which you can find here - they're the perfect size for that pop of contrast color needed to knit the Llariega hat by Belén Fernández (featured above in the colors Comfort, Serene, and Happiness).
