Marla and Sami are BACK
Jan 15th 2024
Guess who's back?
A Marla and Sami restock just landed on our shevles, and we could not be more excited! These scrumptiously soft sister yarns from Manos del Uruguay are both DK weight, 100% superwash Merino with an incredible hand.
Marla is made from two strands of lightweight yarn that have been dyed separately and then plied together. When worked, Marla creates a marled fabric where the colors are uniquely distributed resulting in a yarn that can be high-contrast tweedy or subtly tonal, or even a combination of each in the same colorway. The Marla palette coordinates beautifully with the Sami palette for creating stunning garments and accessories.
Sami is spun of the same fiber and to the same weight as Marla, though it is dyed after plying. Its semisolid colors are dyed specifically to coordinate with the Marla palette, but it also plays well on its own as a superwash DK weight Merino!
Each unique colorway of Marla is designed to coordinate with the semisolid hues of Sami, so we wanted to share our top pairing picks with you - we really love how well Marla and Sami play together.
Not sure what to knit? We recommend the Marla Bandana Cowl! This one-skein-wonder project uses Marla to create a seamless bandanna style cowl with garter and stockinette ridges. The pattern starts at the top, works in the round, and then slowly works back and forth, decreasing to a point - a delightfully straightforward construction to use up a special skein of Marla.
Marla Bandana Cowl is a free pattern on Ravelry. We'll include a complimentary copy (on request) of the pattern through January 31 with your Marla yarn purchase!
