Fall for Felted Tweed: Rowan Autumn 23 is here!
Sep 11th 2023
For some the first day of Fall is the first day back to school, for others it's the Autumn Equinox, or perhaps the first leaf found on the ground. Here at Websters, it starts feeling like Fall when the Autumn/Winter Rowan Magazine arrives.
Rowan Magazine 74 is here, and full of inspiration for the coming season. Within its pages you'll find a focus on two yarns – the first being a firm favorite that has been in the Rowan range for nearly a quarter of a century, Felted Tweed.
Felted Tweed My Way celebrates this very special yarn whilst championing the individuality of the Rowan design team. The designers do Felted Tweed their way, resulting in a wonderfully eclectic mix of designs and styles. Felted Tweed is fantastic for bold and brilliant colorwork as well as a classic one color sweater, and everything in between.
Ask any Rowan fan for their favorite yarn and there's a good chance it'll be Felted Tweed. Spun into a DK weight with a beautiful tweed effect, this magical combination of 50% lightly felted wool, 25% viscose and 25% alpaca creates a gorgeous yarn that's supremely blockable.
We currently have an amazing selection of over 50 Felted Tweed colors to choose from, making it a Fair Isle knitter's dream. Choose from nature-inspired shades ranging from cool watery tones to warming cherry and fiery ginger, and prepare to fall in love!
Even if you're not a Fair Isle knitter, we find that Rowan Felted Tweed really shines in projects with cables and is a gorgeous option for lacework as well. You could even knit it in simple garter stitch for a drapey, squishable fabric that is cozy but light as a feather, and easy to wear (we doubt you'll ever want to take it off!).
Our favorite Churchmouse pattern transcends the trends and happens to be knit in Rowan Felted Tweed. The Easy Folded Poncho is an all-time classic, with thousands of projects on Ravelry that vary from simple chic to bold and brilliant. It’s easy to knit (just one long stockinette rectangle), easy to finish, and easy to throw on. We think of it as a really elegant sweatshirt!
We love that you can knit it solid, or try a variety of striping combinations with the new Lucky Stripe Poncho variation. We've pulled a few of our favorites (shown above) for inspiration - the 6 color version is decidedly neutral with a pop of color, while the 10 color version is bright, cheery, and would match just about anything in your wardrobe.
