Urth Yarn & Your New Favorite Shawl

Butterfly Shawl When we first saw this shawl, our jaws hit the floor. Called Butterfly/Papillion, this incredible work is worthy of a frame, or a lucky knitter's shoulders! When the creator of Urth Yarns showed us the sample above, we knew we had to have it.

When we first saw this shawl, our jaws hit the floor. Called Butterfly/Papillion, this incredible work is worthy of a frame, or a lucky knitter's shoulders! When the creator of Urth Yarns showed us the sample above, we knew we had to have it.

Designer Marin Melchior uses wrap and turn short rows and a self-striping yarn along with a solid color to create her lovely "Butterfly." The pattern is very detailed and easy to follow, but we still recommend this project for an intermediate knitter with experience knitting short rows. That said, it is worth learning short rows just to be able to cast on this astonishing shawl! With so many color combinations to choose from, you may even need more than one...

Ravelry is full of amazing projects for this shawl; here are a few of our favorites:

A: Urth Uneek Fingering 3005 with Natural, by orgumm
B: Urth Uneek Fingering 3010 with Black, by passiontocreate
C: Urth Uneek Fingering 3010 with Black, by promiseknits
D: Urth Uneek Fingering 3004 with Ochre, by urthyarns
E: Urth Uneek Fingering 3004 with Ochre, by orgumm
F: Urth Uneek Fingering 3003 with Lettuce, by passiontocreate

Inspired by these projects and our own imaginations, we created some color combination recommendations for you... but the possibilities are near endless!
