Lana Grossa Solo Lino yarn was an instant staff and customer favorite when we brought it in earlier this year. Now there is a new pattern collection full of light and airy garments, perfect for these summer days!
Solo Lino is a part of the Linea Pura collection from German company Lana Grossa. This line focuses on natural fibers with minimal environmental impact. Solo Lino is 100% linen, but 80% of that is recycled linen, which satisfies the ecological mission of the line, as well as giving the yarn a silk-like sheen. Solo Lino also has exquisite drape and a sturdy makeup of 20 extra fine plies, and it can even be machine washed on gentle (lay flat to dry).
All the designs shown here plus a dozen more are in the Filati Lino booklet, and show some of the wide ranging potential of this special yarn. These booklets are written in German as well as English, and while the patterns are not inherently difficult, the minimalist patterns of European designers lead us to recommend these patterns for intermediate knitters.
The bold, sweeping, asymmetrical hemline is chic and flattering, as is the eyelet lined scoop neck. The eyelet pattern is repeated in the sleeves for a feminine finish on this modern garment.
We love the gentle juxtaposition of the broken rib body and the lace yoke on this simple square tee. Slightly sheer, this design would be fun to wear in a bold color as a summer coverup.
Holding two strands of Solo Lino together gives a unique depth to the openwork pattern in this top. The slim tunic has the air of a 20's style silhouette, but the bold color and casual drape are decidedly modern.
